Dominican Republic at the AITF 2016 exhibition

The Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic is participating in the AITF exhibition for the third time. Our anniversary participation coincided with the anniversary of the exhibition and we are pleased to be part of this celebration.

Over three years in the Azerbaijani market enables us to follow not only the direction of being an exotic beach holiday location, but also as a perfect location for niche tourism: tourism focused on weddings, golf, events and other activities.

Every year the Dominican Republic becomes more and more popular among tourists around the world. In 2015, the Dominican Republic was visited by more than 6 million people, despite the fact that the country has a population of 10 million. This growing popularity attracts new investments to the country. Foreign investors, along with government agencies and local resources, are active in the field of infrastructure. New highways are commissioned in 2015 to connect various tourist regions.

Among hotel business news it is important to note the following:

1. On February 8, the first stone in the construction of the hotel Hard Rock Hotel Santo Domingo was laid. This is the second project of the Mexican network in the Dominican Republic, the first being the hotel Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana, which is considered not only one of the best MICE-hotels but also one of the most stylish and contemporary hotel in the Caribbean.

2. Multimillionaire Gustavo Cisneros with his eco-infrastructure project Tropicalia, located in the north-east of the country in the Miches region, has teamed up with Four Seasons. The opening of the luxury hotel and golf course is scheduled for late 2016.

3. On the north coast of the Dominican Republic on Playa Grande beach, a luxury boutique hotel of Aman Resorts group is opened. Hotel resort Amanera Golf offers accommodation in 36 exclusive villas and Playa Grande Golf Course, designed by well-known architect Robert Trent Jones.

The representatives of well-known hotel chains, such as Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts and Barcelo Hotels & Resorts will be present at the stand of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic.
