Today, on April 6, the 18th Azerbaijan International Travel and Tourism Fair, AITF 2019, completed its work at Baku Expo Centre. Traditionally, the exhibition brought together representatives from various countries, national and regional tourism organisations and government agencies. Held under the slogan ‘The whole world. One exhibition,’ AITF gathered 189 companies and organisations from 17 countries of the world.
The joint stands of the tour operators became a hallmark of this year’s exhibition; the national stands of Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, the Dominican Republic, Italy, China, Morocco, Thailand, Turkey, the Czech Republic, and Slovenia drew a great deal of attention.
The AITF 2019 plays a huge role, representing Azerbaijan as an attractive destination. The renewed tourism brand of Azerbaijan was presented by this year’s debutant, the Azerbaijan Tourism Board. A wide range of tourism proposals both in Azerbaijan and abroad was reflected in the exposition of the Azerbaijan Tourism Association (AzTA), which brought together travel companies, hotels, sanatoriums from Azerbaijan.
As in previous years, the exhibition presented educational tourism, sports tourism, information technology in tourism, as well as hunting and fishing. The specialised sector, Medical and Health Tourism, was extremely popular, bringing together resorts, health centres from Bulgaria, Belarus, Russia (Stavropol Territory), Slovenia (Rogaška Slatina), the Czech Republic and other countries. The organisation of the sector Medical and Health Tourism was highly appreciated by many visitors, who were dominated by representatives of outbound tourism.
The business programme of the exhibition included meetings, workshops, and presentations of the most attractive areas of MICE industry. These positive trends were reflected in the discussion sessions ‘Tourism in Azerbaijan: New Horizons,’ which were held with the organisational support of the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan, AMCHAM.
As part of B2B meetings, representatives of local travel agencies met foreign exhibitors to find partners in the field of tourism and recreation.
Within the framework of the organisers’ new project, Around the World with Travellers, famous travel-bloggers of Azerbaijan shared their traveling experiences and exciting stories. The visitors were shown an exhibition of photographs taken at different parts of the world.
By the Order of President Ilham Aliyev, the year 2019 in Azerbaijan has been declared the Year of Nasimi. To celebrate this event, the AITF 2019 exhibition presented the project ‘Journey into the History and Works of Nasimi,’ which was organised with the participation of the network of bookstores ‘Libraff’ and supported by the radio station 994FM.
On the last day of the exhibition, the project “Travel Festival” was organised for visitors and exhibitors at Baku Expo Centre. Foreign participants were pleased with dances, and artistic and cultural events, which decorated the final day of the exhibition with bright performances and good mood.
The AITF exhibition was held with the active support from and participation of the State Agency for Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) The exhibition is also supported by the Azerbaijan Tourism Association (AzTA), the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs' (Employers’) Organisations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO), and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
